AC Spotlight: Dragon Tongue Entertainment
We sat down with DTE_N, the Game Master of Dragon Tongue Entertainment.
We recently sat down with DTE_N to discuss the origins of the channel, the brutal reality of player death, and why the Medusa might just be the most underrated villain in the Dungeons & Dragons manual.
The Art of the "Moment"
Whether it’s a character unknowingly harboring a Slad tadpole for 70 days or a heartbreaking betrayal, DTE_N focuses on narrative weight.
One of the most striking stories involved a Medusa who didn't just fight, she improvised. After petrifying a Goliath barbarian, the Medusa used a mirror to petrify herself while intertwined with his stone form.
"It was a moment of complete unexpected heartbreak... she intertwined herself and turned herself to stone to prevent the character from being revived."
Rules of the Table
While DTE_N is flexible with the "Rule of Cool," there are some things written in stone (pun intended):
Open Rolls: There is no fudging behind a screen. What the dice say, goes.
Player Death is Real: DTE_N treats death as a narrative opportunity rather than a failure.
The "Spirit" System: To keep players engaged after a character falls, DTE_N uses a custom system where fallen heroes return as spirits. They can trade their "health points" to heal allies or grant advantage, sharing a final memory or backstory beat with the party as they fade.
DTE_N is currently running an impressive three games a week, all in Eastern Time:
Mondays @ 9:30 PM: Acquisitions Incorporated (Violacia's stomping grounds)
Tuesdays @ 10:00 PM: Daggerheart
Fridays @ 10:00 PM: Shattered Obelisk (transitioning soon to Waterdeep)
