In our latest AC Spotlight, we sat down with Dumey, the primary DM and driving force behind DuWo Gaming. We learned how the channel transitioned from a Minecraft community to a dual-casted D&D stream.

Two Types of Creative Modes

Most TTRPG groups meet at a local game store or via a "Looking for Group" post. Duo Gaming took a different path.

"We all met initially on a little game you might have heard of called Minecraft,"

After a rough experience on a public server, the group bonded together to create their own drama-free space. Eventually, Dumey offered to run a game for the group. None of them had played D&D before, but like so many of us, they got hooked instantly.

The "Duo After Dark" Philosophy

One of the most unique aspects of DuWo Gaming is their schedule. Duo Gaming embraces the "late-night" vibe.

  • The Schedule: Sessions often start at 10:30 PM and have been known to run until 3:00 AM.

  • DuWo After Dark: On nights when a full TTRPG crew can’t make it, they pivot to video games like Baldur’s Gate 3 or Jackbox.

  • The Vibe: Doomer describes it as a "late, late night show"—a chill place to hang out, avoid politics, and just enjoy the story.

"Trying to get four D&D players to all want to go in the same place in a video game is even harder than herding cats."

The "Branching Tree" Method

When it comes to world-building, Dumey uses what he calls the Branching Method.

"There’s the trunk of the tree. The underlying story or the big cosmic evil. But that trunk reaches into all these different sections."

By posting "news" from different regions on in-game signposts, he allows the players to decide which branch they want to follow. No matter where they go, it eventually leads back to the main trunk, but the journey is entirely theirs to shape.
