AC Spotlight: Pocket Dragon Pub
We sat down with Vixie Belle, the Game Master of Pocket Dragon Pub.
Welcome back to AC Spotlight! Our latest guest is the incredible Vixie Bell, the creative engine behind Pocket Dragon Pub.
Vixie sat down with us to talk about the evolution of her channel, and the importance of BIPOC advocacy in the tabletop world.
Love is in the Air (and in Space)
Vixie revealed that this year’s overarching theme is Love and Romance, featuring two major long-form campaigns:
The Secret Ways of Love and Magic: A Good Society campaign (think Bridgerton with a magical twist)
The Fabric of Time: An Orbital Blues adventure. Vixie describes this one as a "space western where the only constant is love."
But that’s not all. Vixie is also gearing up for FEM GM Month in March, a dedicated spotlight on female Game Masters and their craft.
Power Word: Unity
Beyond the dice rolls, Vixie is a powerhouse in TTRPG advocacy. She shared the success of Power Word Unity, an initiative she launched at PAX Unplugged to create safe networking spaces for BIPOC creators.
"The goal is showcasing BIPOC creators and what they can do... shedding light on BIPOC-led AP channels because I see a struggle to find them, and they are out there."
Lessons in Resilience
Perhaps the most candid part of our chat was Vixie’s "origin story." Like many creators, her path wasn't a straight line. Her first attempt at an actual play channel was plagued by technical failures, clashing egos, and "diva" personalities.
Vixie admitted that at her lowest point, she considered walking away. So, what kept her going? Spite. When others doubted her ability to produce a high-quality show, she didn't just get mad, she got educated. She leaned into her film background, implemented professional standards (yes, including NDAs and image releases!), and rebuilt Pocket Dragon Pub from the ground up.
