AC Spotlight: Sword and Spoon
We sat down with Sullivan, the Game Master of Sword and Spoon.
At Arcane Circle, we believe that every great adventure starts with a spark of creativity and a welcoming seat. Recently, we sat down with Sullivan, the GM and co-founder of the upcoming Actual Play channel: Sword and Spoon.
Hospitality at the Table
Inspired by their first GM who served homemade snacks, Sullivan carries that tradition forward.
"I’m the spoon," Sullivan states, referring to the brand name they share with their wife, Bailey (the "Sword"). "I like to think it’s because I like to bake."
Building the World Together
Sullivan is taking a refreshingly collaborative approach for world building. Though they have a world map and the beginnings of a pantheon, they are intentionally leaving room for their players to fill in the blanks.
"I’ve put my worldbuilding on the back burner while we’re in the auditions process... I want to find a table that loves collaborative storytelling as much as I do."
By the time the show launches, the world won't just be Sullivan's—it will be a shared tapestry woven by the five players who make the final cut.

The "Deep Space Nine" Structure
Sullivan shared their unique structural inspiration: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Rather than one endless, wandering line, the Sword and Spoon podcast will follow a three-act structure featuring an ensemble cast.
Act-Based Missions: Each act focuses on a major mission.
Character Deep-Dives: Space is carved out specifically for backstories and NPC development.
Cohesive Content: Sessions are recorded in four-hour blocks but edited into digestible two-hour episodes.
What’s Next?
The Sword and Spoon network isn't just about one show. They are also launching Two’s a Party, a TTRPG commentary podcast exploring the professional side of the industry.
As for the main event? Mark your calendars for Early 2027. It might feel like a long trek through the woods, but with Sullivan’s diligence and a literal "God of Creation" in the works, it’s going to be worth the wait.
You can find Sullivan and the Sword and Spoon crew on YouTube and their Beacon page.
