Virtual Tabletop: Dynamic Lighting, Fog, and Fixes

A big tabletop update: dynamic lighting, real fog-of-war control, smoother tokens, mobile fixes, session-scheduling polls, and a long list of fixes across games, characters, and payments.

💡 Dynamic Lighting

Light up your maps. GMs can place light sources anywhere on a map, and any token can carry its own light — a torch, a lantern, a glowing sword. Turn lighting on and the map goes dark except where something is lit; players only see what's in the light (and it stacks with line-of-sight when both are on). Give a token darkvision and it sees in the dark on its own. Lighting is a per-map toggle, so nothing changes until you switch it on.

🌫️ Fog of War You Can Hide Behind

GMs can now switch a map's fog between fully blacked-out and a dimmed preview. New maps default to blacked-out, so unrevealed areas are genuinely hidden from players instead of faintly showing through.

🎭 Better Tokens

  • Your character portrait now doubles as your VTT token unless you upload a custom one.
  • Players can hide a token's HP bar from their own view without changing what anyone else sees.
  • GMs get per-token combat stats for mobs, plus copy-paste (Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V) for placing groups quickly.
  • Draw walls as open lines, not just closed shapes.

🗓️ Session Scheduling Polls

Share a direct link to a session's availability poll, and preview exactly what your players see before you send it.

🎙️ Recordings

Session recordings now queue automatically for transcription and summary — no extra step.

📱 Mobile

The tabletop now works on touch: tap to select the right token, and pinch-to-zoom the map without the page zooming underneath it. Game and GM details also sit above the description on phones, and the dashboard's tap targets are fixed.

🐛 Fixes & Improvements

  • Players no longer get dropped from the tabletop mid-session, and can join before the GM arrives.
  • Removed a stray "roll initiative" prompt that showed up when no combat was running.
  • Maps, token positions, and fog now display correctly for players.
  • Character sheets: ability scores always render, the creation wizard saves reliably, and editing a submitted sheet no longer silently loses its approval.
  • Payments: one consistent charge path with clear failure messages and self-serve retry; games below their player minimum are never charged.
  • In-person games show their event details and a map pin on the game card.
  • New filters on the games page: game type, and GM identity tags.
  • Delete a wiki page directly from the page view.
  • Fixed large campaigns failing to load their game page.
  • Unlisted games no longer notify followers, and full games no longer show up in recommendations.
